John Geronilla is a Philippine-born writer, director, and producer. His passion for the arts began in high school when he participated in the Shakespeare Center Los Angeles program – Will Power to Youth, where youths got the opportunity to work with some of Shakespeare’s greatest plays. He continued his exploration into the arts, performing in numerous plays at his local high school.
It wasn’t until he noticed a small Campus Moviefest booth at California State University Northridge that he began his journey into filmmaking. While at CSU Northridge, he produced, edited, and directed photography for multiple short films including – Diana Leigh which won a DGA award. His career as a filmmaker led him to Thailand where he did cinematography for a short film titled, “Nong Dao.” This is where he met the team of creatives that he founded Apex Films with.
John is thankful for the opportunities he has had to work with multiple mentors and companies including: Donald Petrie, Warner Bros Entertainment, and Martini Crew Booking.
John has directed 3 films to date and took a 2-Year Meisner Program at Elizabeth Mestnik Acting Studio to develop a better understanding of the actor. When he’s not making movies, he’s usually playing with this dogs or Dungeons & Dragons.
